Re: A few jacket washing questions
Thanks for the advice, folks! I haven't heard about using the washing machine. I'm hesitant since mine is the special offer and probably not as well-made as one of the customs--I might try it on the gentle cycle? But I'll wear it a while as-is after its initial shower. It does seem to fit much bette...

Re: A few jacket washing questions
It does make sense. Mine did too, which is nice, and I have a few good-looking wrinkles along the pockets and the sleeves. Leather still looks like new, though...

A few jacket washing questions
Last night I gave my special offer ROLA lambskin its first wash with warm water for about 3 min. I wore it around the house all evening with the sleeves pushed up while my wife made fun of me. It still has the shine to the leather, and generally does not look as cool as some of the before/after pics...

Best way to curl the edges of the brim?
. . . so that it looks sort of like an Akubra Stockman. It seems like there's a trick to it beyond just steam and fingers...

dorfman + a few months in a sunlit window = new hat size?
I've got an old dorfman pacific fur felt Indy that I stole from my Dad about five years ago, after he beat it up camping, etc. I continued its life of abuse by (unintentionally) leaving it in a west-facing window for...well, a long, long time. Now it's a few shades lighter, but I was wondering: will...

What do you wear with your fedora when not in gear?
Hey folks, One of my news years' ideas was to wear my fedora more on a day-to-day basis. It's an Akubra Sydney in fawn, not too far off from the Indy models (I get plenty of Indy comments wearing it, to be sure.) So far, I've been wearing it with jeans or chinos, oxford shirts, and a heavy Carhartt ...

I was in Book Eddy in Knoxville, TN the other day though and saw a fellow working there in an Indy fedora--unmistakable. I was thinking &quo...

About that "Wested leather is okay in the rain" bi
So, I got in my Raiders special yesterday and today it is raining. I remember reading on the FAQ that Wested leather was of high enough quality that "you could go swimming in it" and not hurt the jacket as long as it could dry naturally. I'm reluctant to take a leather jacket out in the ra...

Thanks for the info, Scott! I ended up ordering a 40 special offer after I saw Indiana Holt's pics on another thread--his looks much darker than the one pictured on wested's site, so I believe you about the color being darker than it looks. By the way, I see you are from Arkansas, how long did it ta...

Anyone with Matt Welsby whips?
Greetings everyone! I'm new here, and I have to say that I am very impressed that so many of you plait your own whips and that they end up looking great! I was wondering if anyone else owned a Matt Welsby whip. He has a style called the "Indy Cobra" which is what I currently use--I don't k...

Newby with Wested questions
Greetings everyone! A few weeks ago, after the Crystal Skulls trailer hit youtube, I started looking for a good Indy jacket. I browsed them a few years ago without getting one. This time, Indygear led me to Wested and to this forum, which I have lurked while waiting for my account to be registered. ...
