scotch guard?

has anyone used scotchguard on fur felt? the guy at a local hat shop told me to use it but im not sure if anyone can give me their opinions id appreciate it

the hat looking fithy i like cause it is filthy but those sweat marks i think makes it look bad it looks patchy for lack of a better term. would post pics but in hong kong right now. gonna look for a different one over here. hopefully i can find an akubra or something

ok i must be one step above and ape. i wore my fedora outside doing yard work. i sweated through the hat and stained the ribbon is there any way of cleaning the ribbon without the whole hat? it dried and stained the ribbon

i did get rid of the teardrop too but didnt like how the hat fit so i popped it back in. thought about cutting down the brim and want the clean edge but when i started to take the edge off the holes were alittle too noticeable for me not quite sure how well id do cutting down the brim. plus im leavi...

so i used the regular clothes starch on the inside of the hat and here is how it came out. yes it is a crushable dorfman let me know how you guys think it came out

thanks for the input. the one im using it on is a dp so just the regular clothes starch would work for me. cheap and if it screws up the hat no great loss. never even thought about clothes starch. i appreciate everyones help

does anyone know if it is possible to buy a stiffener? the at shop in my area has nothing. i have a crushable fedora that i got a decent bash in and what o keep it that way. i want to try and keep it that way and info would be grealy appreciated

trust me im not a cheap skate. who bought the special edition ultimate guide i did. but im not gonna spend 200 to 300 bucks for a hat that i wont wear that often getting more comfortable wearing a fedora but its not any everyday hat for me yet

i have the limited edition one and when i talked to them about protection they said it was already treated. i would think the c.e. one is the same. just call them. they will answer any questions you may have.

ok so from what i have seen you can use cheap kitty litter in place of fullers earth. what are you using to grind it into a fine powder? what works the best?

i agree longer sleeves feel right except when your arms are hanging at your sides like a pair of salami's. i thought my sleeves were too long on my kotcs jacket but got use to it real quick and dont mind it. especially after seeing how long they are in the pics of harrison

i talked to the girls at wings today and the number isnt the jacket number of 90 it all has to do with the batch of leather from the first production run, when the jacket was made. she said that she was reading the message board last night and seen the comments about the numbers.

stitching seems good to me. it is a thick jacket and somewhat heavy its what i would want in an indy jacket i think this thing will be here and still be able to to be worn long after im dead(which hopefully is a long way off)

yea well one was a small and just fit too tight when zipped up. and besides i have my eyes on one of the bombers at uswings with the pin up girls on back. if i can talk the wife into it after buying the indy jacket :lol:
