Specific hat ribbon
I'm trying to convert my old Federation 3 into a Tom Baker Doctor Who hat and so far everything is going smoothly except that I can't seem to find a good ribbon anywhere. 2" grosgrain is hard to come by in any color, much less that perfect shade. So far I've found a chocolate brown with a littl...

Re: Buying a replacement sweatband
Thanks for the updates. I took a look at ebay and found a seller over there that sells sweats for $15 shipped. Should be good enough. I know it's not much less than some places charge to do it, but I like doing stuff myself anyway. It'll be a fun learning experience.

Re: Buying a replacement sweatband
The hat was only $2 in a thrift store, very lucky find because it's a great hat, but not worth the $100 they'd probably charge to sew in a new sweat, especially when I'm capable of doing it myself. Thanks, though.

Buying a replacement sweatband
Hey everybody, I've been out of the Indy game for a couple years, but picked up a nice grey fedora a while back, save for its rotting sweatband. I tried looking around, but couldn't find any place that would sell a leather sweat. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Re: Specific leather braid?
I managed to track down some good lace for the bracelet, but I'll get one of those lace cutters for some trim lace. Can it be used on garment leather, though? The perfect hide for that lace would be some 3 oz. deer skin I just got, but it's really floppy.

I've only found one usable 5 mm lace for sale anywhere online, and I'm looking into buying some of that, but it's more expensive than I'd like. Haven't had any luck tracking down any 8 mm lace for a different part of the same costume.

That stuff is only 3mm wide, you can get that anywhere for way less. If I was going to pay that kind of money it would have to be perfect.

Yea, unfortunately Tandy doesn't sell anything like that. Heck, you need 3 meters of the stuff to make the bracelet the correct length, which is larger than most hides. Even cutting it yourself wouldn't work.

Re: Specific leather braid?
Yea, the lace I've got is too skinny and doesn't twist either. I need to track down something closer to the actual stuff used. Preferably a lace that won't break, either. I got all the way to the end, about 13 inches of braid, and tried to tighten it by pulling the black strand and it snapped right ...

I gave it another shot with the top loop wrapped around a nail and it's working out much better now. Any tips to get the red end of the lace to bunch up evenly without gaps? Aaaaaahhhh. That makes sense. Oh, but it isn't actually multiple links, it's one continuous bracelet. I went into my local place before looking up the restoration program. I used to have a Magnoli bag, it was very nice in terms of materials. My eyes don't pick up variances in green very well, but to me his bag is 100% light khaki, not green at all. that was a deal breaker for me, so I got an original. Wade also sells those.

Indy's pants are baggy, but not that baggy. If you take them in a bit/add the pleats they should fit fine. Nice drape on the boots.
