Re: Christy's Adventurer Reborn!

I shaped the brim with an iron and a wet towel. No shrinkage, no crinkles. In the first, the brim seemed to be stiff. After a few days of wearing the brim began to flatten in the wind.

That's why I love the Christy's. The floppy brim and the colour.

LLS, I'm sure you will do (have done) a great job. 2 1/2 years for recreating an old style is much more than just a passion. Maybe it will be another close enough, maybe a dead on Raiders hat. Whatever, you created your own imagination of the raiders fedora. So did Steve, Marc, 3thou and others. Som...

Steve, I saw when I bought the HJ six years ago this block shape is not the raiders block. It's close when you see the hat in front. But from the sideview there is too much back taper. That's why I bashed my Christy's (and the long gone HJ) as an LC. But some people love the rabbit felt and the slig...

Because I love the Christy's felt. The question ist what do I expect from my hat. If you want a perfect straight sided? Buy an AB. If you want high quality felt wearable in any weather? Buy a beaver. If you want an authentic Raiders felt hat bashed like Raven Bar or Well of Souls, buy a Christy's. Y...

I would never compare a beaver hat with a rabbit. Never! I know Steve's intention for a quality hat. Today I have a CS AB and an AB Dlx Raiders style. That's enough. I don't need more quality hats. If one of these is saturated by a rain storm and it rains the other day too I grab the other one. So, ...

Finally, I received my AB today from Steve.

The wait was well worth because it's such a great hat... :notworthy: I'm speechless. With setting up the CS bash you did an outstanding job. It's a real competitor to the raiders style fedora.

Thank you Steve!

Thanks guys.

Before the reblock I didn't know the block will work or not. I'm really happy (and surprised) with the result. And if some people of COW like it too the work on the block was worth the sweat.

You are right, BendingOak. Cut the brim last year after I received the hat. It was a reg. oval, so the head looked shorter than 5.5 inches on my head. I cut the brim, the problem was solved. Now, after the reblock, for the real "screen accurate lovers" the brim looks defnitly too narrow. :...

Thank's to everyone for the kind words. Especially you Marc.

Reblocked AB Dlx.

After I bought two Christies the first one in sable the other one in light sable, I decided to build my own hat block to fight the common taper. Two weeks ago I started and asked myself which scene the blocked hat should match. Fedoras hats look like the hat in the "before the temple" scen...

Okay, after I've learned to post pics in a thread, I will show my federation as well. It's not really "Indianish" (tawny fawn, loose pinch), but, I think, it's a nice looking lid.

Okay, on March the 14th I became an e-mail from Steve he's working on my hat, one of the last rabbits in the raven bar style. Last thursday DHL delivered a white package from Columbus, Mississipi. A beautiful reddish brown adventurebilt fedora jumped out of the box. But... not raven bar bash... It w...

If you ask me, I'm happy the KCS Fedora hasn't the raiders bash! Why? - We are all looking for the right raiders block for several years. Some of us has more raiders tight pinch fedoras than shoes or t-shirts. What sense did it make for a hat afficionado if the KCS Fedora would have the tight front ...

Hi, everybody! I'm new on COW, but as a guest I stick around for almost three years. I am the last one who jumped on the rabbit deal. Ordered the hat on feb. 4th. So I'm number twelve or thirteen. I hope you guys will receive your hats very soon. If you got yours, I will get mine  Nice to be o...
