Love the jacket! I recently started watching the Doctor Who series via Netflix and had gotten the urge to get one.
However, I don't know if I could pull it off.

Re: Kangaroo Indy Jacket at Vintage Shop (Pics added)
I remember having one of these back in the day and had the solvent issue within the first month of wearing it. Something splashed on the front of the jacket and I ended up with a two inch black spot on an otherwise brand new jacket. The skin might be light and tough as nails but the coloring wasn't....

With the tie, I think Indy was trying to portray more of a civilized "Professor Jones out in the field" look moreso than Indiana Jones, treasure hunter. Throughout the films, Indy tends to put on the sportcoat and tie when he is in professor mode. In his gear, Indy was definitely expecting...

By your list, it sounds like you are a true 50L. Standard Westeds fit loose hence the 48 fits you and TN fits small hence the 52 fits you. Your 50s are on the money. Getting measured by a pro would definitely get you a proper starting point but that's only a starting point as manufacturers vary.

US Wings pretty much standardizes the measurements of their Indy jackets to fit the masses. A 27+ inch back length though fairly long for an Indy jacket is pretty common for other types of jackets. The looser cut insures that it'll fit a wide range of people. Ford's Raiders did have a 23 inch back b...

I agree. The thinness of the jacket is the best part. You can wear it comfortably in warmer regions (much like Indy wears his in the desert) yet there's also a lot of give so you can layer heavily if you need it. However, the leather does have an unusual look/feel to it. Still, it tends to be my go ...

If you are worried about oversaturating your jacket, you could just take a spray bottle and spritz it wet then wear it until it dries. Keep the process going until you get the results you want. If you want real warmth without adding bulk, you should do a dark alpaca wool lining.
