Re: Where to get the most accurate Indy block?
Hmm.. I used to have the LaMode block but misplaced it (i know). I might get that one again, it was quite nice. I was just wondering if there were any alternatives.

Where to get the most accurate Indy block?
Who would I talk to to get the most Raiders/KOTCS accurate hat block?
How much would it run?

Can you recommend specifically which product to use for a naphtha bath? Can you buy it in gas stations?A naphtha bath would be recommended.

A thread about pouncing and other stuff
While I agree 60 is too coarse, i prefer starting with 120, then gk to 220, then 400, 600, then finer (up to 1500). If I started with 400, the hat would end up being very thick and unmalleable. Now, I'm definitely not saying the felt should be laper thin, by taking the top layer off has given me nic...

A thread about pouncing and other stuff
Hey guys, I've been told to brush my hats counter-clockwise more than once. I'm only assuming that when pouncing (by hand) it's counter-clockwise (top) as well? (clockwise underneath) Does this help change the grain of the felt to help weather proofing (build static / whatever) to resist letting in ...

Where to get a Beaver body?
Hey guys, any of you wonderful hatmakers willing to make my dream come true and sell me a beaver felt body so I can make my own? I made one out of rabbit recently and it turned out nice. I've really wanted to make a beaver one, but I can't find a beaver body anywhere. Where might one find a single b...

Every hatted has a diferrent X standart. And it really is just to make it look more amazing. Basically what they're doing is taking a $1 bill, scribbling out the one and writing in 2000000000000 and then they go looking to 7-11 for change.

Re: LC Black Hat?
Excellent Find. I've never even heard of that hat and it's easy to miss, too, hardly in frame. It looks to have a bound snap brim and definitely a shoter, more tapered crown than a poet...it kinda looks like a simple center dent and very shallow side-dents that are more towards the middle of the hat...

Reshaping Panamas
Hi, I was thinking about getting a high-quality panama this summer and rebashing it. I hate getting a hat with a plain blocked-in bash, so I always reshape my hat so that I'm wearing IT more than IT wears me. So the $295 question is - how do Panamas respond to dry-bashing, steaming, even re-blocking...

Nice hats! Yeah man, making hats is awesome. It's hard work, but it's really enjoyable.
You might consider getting some really fine sandpaper and pouncing the hats a tad more. They're pretty fuzzy. Everything else looks great.

Brody, fuzz shows up on felt during pouncing usually if there is little-to-no stiffener in the felt. Also, make sure you keep brushing the little fluff away with a hatbrush in the correct directions as someone mentioned before.

"I really don't wear it at all."
Can I wear it?
If they think it looks goofy, then the hat's wearing you, more than you wearing the hat.

Depends what they do with Indy 5. Cow is great quality and will carry you over much longer but lamb ALWAYS is more interesting to look at as a costume choice. It's much more versatile and gives away who the character is. The plainness of the cow really shelters the clothes from ever becoming anythin...

It's true that this felt tapers a lot, but the stock HJ felt as it comes with a factory HJ is even worse than Christy's felt. The felt does have a lot of air, and Christy's makes for a great lightweight hat for winter and spring. I know it's not on Par with the Henry, I just hope the Henry, after ta...

Forgive the quality of the photos Oak, you can see why they are not that great in the fourth picture (haha) For those who are clueless as to what this is - it's a Christy's that's been taken apart, reblocked with the old AB block and then amateurishly put back together.
