The only reason I hesitate to use it on shoes or jackets: Fuller's earth was originally used to absorb the natural oils from wool by fullers, or wool processors. Now the idea with leather is to do everything to keep those natural oils in place. This seems a bit of a contradiction to me. :-k

I found myself reapplying it all night long.
:lol: The image of a gearhead walking around with a little powder compact of fuller's earth to "freshen up" is just too funny! I can see me stepping out to powder my hat or my shoes instead of my nose!

I have a Stetson fedora that is not an "official" hat, and it is very good quality. I have hat no bleeding problems yet, and it has gotten pretty wet, though not soaked.

It may have to do with head shape and hair texture. My head is roundish and my hair fvery fine, and my hat comes off in high winds. My hair is actually so fine that those spikey things (barettes? That's pretty impressive weathering. The only thing that seems odd is that the edges of the wear on the sleeve and pocket are too straight. Is that just an artifact of the photo?

That's one nice hat. I'm still waiting for my AB, so I haven;t decided on a wearing strategy yet. I wear the Stetson I got this past year virtually every day, so I will probably do the same to the AB, saving the Stetson for the grungiest or riskiest wearing (since it was cheaper!)

I do, but not braces. I like different belts and buckles, and wearing both is a little too old guy even for me. I don't wear garters on my socks, either (though my father did), and lost my spats about 35 years ago.

I used the IndyGear Rit method with great success. My shirts came out a beautiful color. Are you from the States? I MA, I've found the necessary colors in supermarkets and also in Michael's craft stores.

Has anyone tried to make a dummy pistol (I don't mean an accurate repro)? If so, it would be nice to see some pics of the process and finished product. I often see grips for far cheaper than a real gun or repro, and thought it might make a reasonable holster-stuffer. This would be a nice alternative...

A beautiful job! Was the 7-oz leather heavy enough, in your opinion? Tandy says that their 7-oz is for holsters, but some on this board have said 9 or 10 is better. I have a source of some 7-oz scraps , enough to make a couple of holster, but haven't bought it yet because of the uncertainty.
