If the jacket at Goodwill is indeed the same jacket as shown in the eBay listing, it would be worth throwing down a 20 dollar bill for IMO..

If anything, one could experiment with distressing techniques (I may not go as far as a washer / dryer treatment though) without much worry for certain.

yes, they are different. calf is more lamb like but stronger. cow is thicker and rugger. cowhide has a a sligth different grain too. That's how I would describe the calfskin of my Todd's Custom. My lamb G&B is about 3.5 cm. My Todd's custom is about 6 cm....

I purchased the G&B from the FS Forum, and I'm not sure exactly how old it is... I REALLY like it though regardless...

My Todd's custom calfskin has held up very well. The stitching is strong, and I have no doubts it will last.

The calfskin is broken in, and has developed a nice grain and character.

The G&B lamb is great! :) This one is everything I have wanted in an Indy jacket and more. ;) (I have owned two Wested's in the past, and currently have a couple of U.S. Wings, and a Todd's Custom) This is the dark brown lambskin... imo, the SA test for jacket length: throw on the NH/wested/magnoli trousers worn right at the waist....not around your hips like eminem and not up where your navel is like old indy......... the back panel should just cover the pocket flaps. Well, my Todd's custom calfskin stood up very well to a delicate wash cycle, and around 35 minutes in the dryer on regular heat. (Jacket turned inside-out) It is still heavily damp in these pics... I threw the jacket around, slept in it for many of the cooler spring and summer nights to break it in, and have worn it a great deal lately in the cool Portland, Oregon weather...
