Re: Sell here, Ebay, or send back?
Okey dokey. Well, they said they'd take a look, so I figure as long as they'll at least consider it, it's worth a shot. If they can get me the old one back in time, I can still sell it before Halloween at a little bit of a discount, I suppose.

Re: Sell here, Ebay, or send back?
The specs are kind of important to me, particularly the waist to shoulder ratio. For my frame, I have broad shoulders and a narrow waist, so a normal 40R looks boxy on me. I could always knock off $100 or so from the price. I don't mind eating that under the circumstances. But I guess I'll see if G&...

Sell here, Ebay, or send back?
So, a while back, I picked up a G&B Expedition in goatskin. 40R. It fits pretty nicely, but I decided I want one that's custom tailored to my specs. I'd also kinda like it in time for Halloween. So, now I have a dilemma. G&B says that they can't guarantee they'll restock the thing, but they ...

Re: Questions about the G&B Expedition and its history
Kaplan, For what it's worth, I just had one of these delivered on Friday. It's an off-the-rack 40R. It fits me quite well (although only two of my measurements are different from their 40R). The jacket looks great, is built like a tank without feeling as heavy as cowhide, and it looks good to me as ...

Re: Show us your Expeditions! / Any Distressed Expeditions?
Yeah, minor point here on the "OMG it's HUGE on me!" element. I JUST got my G&B 40R off-the-rack jacket to try on for size. The jackets run a bit big, but when zipped up, it felt fairly snug in the chest. Suitably snug, I mean. I tried it on with a medium-weight sweater and it seemed j...

Re: My NEW Gibson & Barnes Goat and the Dave Marshall Experi
On the timeframes, you can get lucky. The 40R I ordered last Friday should probably arrive by the end of the week (or so they told me). If they have an off-the-rack one in stock, you can probably get it faster than 3 months, but it depends on their stock. For custom orders, though, I gather they're ...

So, for the latest step in the saga, I FINALLY put in an order for an off-the rack-jacket (40R) in dark brown goat. It'll ship Monday. I gave them my measurements, and they sent me back the measurements of a 40R. Turns out I'm pretty close to their stock measurements, although the waist is about 2&q...

It looks way worse in person, though. Each year that I break out my Indy gear (or, rather, assemble it all at once, since I wear parts of it regularly), there's always some guy with one of these cheap-o costumes or thrown-together ensembles. Heck, the VERY FIRST year I did it ('98 or '99) I had a bo...

No, I am not COMPLETELY satisfied with it, which is why I'm getting a new one and will retire the old one.

Quick update: Just got off the phone with Jessica at G&B's sales dept. She had a few bits of info. 1.) No leather facings. Apparently it'd alter the pattern too much to add them. 2.) Underarm gussets come standard. No need to specially request them. 3.) They're happy to send you a swatch of the ...

You could just notify Ebay that the image is taken from another website which did not authorize its use. That alone might get them to pull the image, if not the auction itself.

I've mentioned this in the past, but basically I want my jacket to be "an Indy jacket" that's highly functional and durable. Screen accuracy is great, to the extent I can get it, but I'm more interested in that the jacket be the Indy style, that it fit me like a glove, and that it be tough...

I'll definitely post pics when I finally get it in. First thing I have to do, though, is get over to the tailor and get my measurements! I'm not as concerned about the shorter zipper. I just noticed on my old Wested Raiders that it's the same deal -- the zipper ends about 1" from the bottom of ...

I suppose you could always order a jacket that was shrunk somehow. That or take steps to distress it yourself and try to shrink it. For my tastes, doing that to a jacket is taking SA a bit too far. I wouldn't do that with a jacket that I paid upwards of $200 for, just to make it look accurate to fra...

In Raiders, the zipper goes all the way to the bottom of the jacket and didn't have the leather facings. G&Bs expo does not have the facings per the film jacket but the zipper tends to end about an inch or inch and a half from the bottom. Not a big deal unless you are a SA fanatic. So, wait, ho...

I'll definitely post pics once the jacket comes in! I was toying with the idea of the snap at the bottom. Especially given how it's been a bit windy and cold here lately, having that extra bit of protection will help. Question: my Wested Raiders doesn't have a snap at the top. Does a standard G&...

So, after much pondering, I decided that I'm going to pick myself up a G&B Expedition, fully custom tailored, in dark brown goatskin. They say it'll take 'em about 12 weeks or so (plus shipping time -- appx. 4-5 days), but that's alright by me. I can wait. Besides, April in Philly can still be b...

Yep. I cinched mine up tight years ago to create a more form-fitting look, and it ended up tearing the leather itself (not the seams, but the leather) at the base of the hand warmers. Re: Getting a Wested, need some advise
A few suggestions, based on having owned a Wested since about 2001: 1.) Lambskin looks lovely, but doesn't age all that well. At least the 2001 vintage jackets tend to scrape easily, and the nice surface finish gets peeled away pretty easily, leaving a VERY different color below. Much lighter. I got...
