I picked up a "close enough" grosgrain tie last year from thetiebar.com. It's made of silk and the traditional size almost matches the dimensions of Magnoli's officer tie (I just found out Magnoli's offering has been discontinued), it's just a 1/2" longer. Still, not bad for the price...

The color will fade with sun exposure, so if I were to order a HJ, I'd choose deep Sable. That's just me, though.

Definitely while hiking unless it's below 70, but not so much sweating when I'm just running errands and what not. I live in Texas and as most people know, it's hot here most of the time.

Croft, the SoF gloves are, I'd say, a standard thickness; like a basic pair of leather work gloves from any old hardware shop. I have no doubt they can take any abuse you throw at them. The CS hats have deeper, more defined side dents, and IMO, a more shallow center dent than the LC hats. The pinch on the CS hats are more consistent as well while the LC pinch changes from loose to very loose similar to the YIJC hat. Here's my AB after tweaking the bash to look more like the CS hats...

It made the "turn" more defined in the brim on my Hufvud Leifur in pure beaver. I don't notice a difference in the crown, however, you may get different results depending on the felt, materials, etc.

A month ago, I sent out my '07 AB to Jimmy Pierce for a reblock and I got it back yesterday. The brim was in desperate need of a reflange, and I wanted the hat to be rebashed from a Raiders-style to Crystal Skull. I think he did a great job!
