I won one of his auctions and the whip was beautiful. Trouble was it was so heavy and thick I could not crack it, and I'm not a little guy. Had a nylon fall too which added to the difficulty. To his credit he refunded my money. These whips are great wall hangers but not something I can see as a tool.

Try one of Mike's bullwhip making kits. My first one is classic Indy and is the best cracking and most easily handled of all my dozen or so whips. Was the kit difficult? Have you made other whips prior to trying Mike's kit? Just curious. I would hate to buy one and completely mess it up... I have m...

AB fedora
I've been waiting since August 8th. I inquired once in December, and was told it would likely be sent just after Christmas. I think he got a huge rush of orders when he announced the pending price increase, so I'll just continue to bide my time.

Thanks so much for your post. I've been blessed to spend time with other craftsmen; they all make it seem so simple and look so easy. The work is never either, but is so much more doable thanks to the pioneering work they have done in preserving the old arts, distilling an enormous amount of work, t...

Caicedo whip
I bought one of Gus's 12 plait cowhide whips off e**y a couple of weeks ago. When I got it, I was very surprised at how soft and supple it was. After conditioning it and letting it sit for a couple of days, I took it outside to try it out. It's a six footer and it cracks like a rifle; much more flui...

Hello
Hi, I just recently developed a fascination for whips, having remembered a bullwhip my grandfather had. I ordered a 6' black 12 plait bull from Gus Caicedo and have found it to crack very easily and accurately. I could crack it from the start and after just a few tries could hit dandelion heads and ...

My brother, a UPS delivery guy, has hands like that; probably from handling cardboard boxes all day. I lift weights regularly, but wear workout gloves and work as a physician, so my hands are not too rough. I just recently started cracking, having bought a 6' 12 plait roo bullwhip from Gus Caicedo. ...
