Can anyone provide comparison photos of the two boots to show the differences? I would be curious to see how "inaccurate" the new 403's are. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i10/richardsk/DSCF2409.jpg These are my three specimens. 403's in center and Adventurebilt not included. http://i68...

Re: New Alden 405 with darker brown leather.

So, yesterday my new 403's arrived from S.F. Thank you Alden's for taking care of repeat customers and making a custom shoe for them. They are beautiful. They are also no different from the German screen accurate versions as far I can see that a little shoe polish (or dye) can't alter. Let's see, co...

Re: New Alden 405 with darker brown leather.

For those without a wide foot, J Crew has an Indy boot made by Alden for $398. The Alden shop in S.F. as reported has the new dark brown available but not in wide widths. I had the manager place an order months ago when I found out about the new color and they are making a pair in my size, 11 1/2 EE...

Re: Screen Accurate Aldens

Alright, let me clarify my original claim. When I say S.C., I don't mean all of the particulars that are involved in the German shoes. I mean that they are using a brown that is like the brown used in those. For $200 plus less, I'll take these.

Screen Accurate Aldens

Just returned from San Francisco and learned from the Aldens manager that a new color will be in their store later this year. It is a brown that that looks like the special run shoes that are available from Germany. He will e-mail me when they are in and I'll fly up to check them out.

Great opportunity to see the Mark VII in use as a soldier dons his respirator in the beginning of the movie to investigate the boundaries of the contaminated area.

I need to send my AB back to Steve for some brim work and rebashing (possibly a reblock).

Has anyone had any recent experience doing this to give a rough time frame for repairs?

I'm thinking of taking it to Baron's in L.A. to cut down on turn around time. Any thoughts?

The bag holds up very well; the strap webbing that holds the rings on is what wears out. Buy two, one to use and one keep for nostalgia's sake. I have also kept one of the original straps to replace the ring holders as they wear out. Your local tailor can replace it easily enough.

A simple answer to your question is, no. The bag is too small and compartmentalized for your needs. Also, an original bag is close to seventy years old and does not hold up well to extreme use - particularly the webbing that holds the strap rings to the bag.
