Shrink? Yikes. Of course wool shrinks. But am I to understand that you're WASHING a cavalry twill wool pant?

The pants are dry clean only. Washing woold does more than just shrink the garment, it ruins the knit.

pants pants pants

I was curious how y'all wear your pants. I had the waist let out a smidgen so that the pants could sit on the hips vs. the waist. For the longest time, I put the gear on and I looked.....I dunno, square. Even with the shirt and pants worn in, I just didn't look "right" because the pants lo...

interesting.... perhaps this comes down to color symantecs. My boots came from the factory in Middleboro MA and my friend's came from San Fran. I had ordered two sizes specifically to be certain of my size with the intent to send one back. All the colors were the same. The only orangey color that I'...

The new pic is just a high contrast Black and White photo. It is my understanding that they are using the order catalogue photo because they are planning to update the color photo to match the color of the boot. I have personally seen 3 distincly different leathers/colors of the 405. 1. Original Bro...

Wested gets even softer after lotion..

..When I first received my new Lambskin jacket, I thought it was too soft and supple to be true. I've worn the jacket through the spring and early summer and again this fall. Last night I rubbed the ol' skin down with the lotion. A couple of really thin coats. At the time, the jacket didn't seem too...

Thanks Michaelson, That helps quite a bit actually. A friend of mine recently bought a pair and isn't sure if he should go down a width. Mine fit great but I think mine are of the newer variety because even in a EE width, I still have a good 1/2 inch between the eyelets. High regards, as always North

Is that captain Stubens? LOL Yeah, y'know, this has been the dilemma. I've heard around here that organic is bad. It supposedly goes rancid, attracts insects and stuff and generally should be avoided. Then, this leather guy said that that's bs and that only in very very hot weather will mink oil go ...

alden fitting

There was some talk a while back regarding widths of aldens and a good method to guage fit. Something about the distance between the eyelets after you tied'em up.

Is there a rule for this?

thanks.

8's vs. 10's

To all you whipper-snappers out there... It is my understanding that a longer whip cracks more easily than a smaller whip, but that a smaller whip is inherently easier to use in terms of control. My question relates to cracking volume level and ease of cracking. Does a 10 foot whip crack THAT much e...

I'm sure that Alden will have some options though. I think that most quality shoe repair shops can fix 'em up.

Good luck.

The Local Leatherguy's a mink oil freak!!!

...somebody, anybody, help me find the research, the words, and the wherewithal to explain to my city's most reputable leather repairman, THAT MINK OIL IS NO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy has a good rep for being an excellent restorer/repairer of leather goods, particularly jackets. He fixed up a seco...

Cracker material

What is the best (and hopefully readily available) material for a cracker?

I've made a few crackers out of whatever thread I had lying around but they weren't that good.

I'd like to be able to buy a spool of stuff so that I can make my own but I want the right stuff...

Thanks in advance

MBA shirt vs. Maytag....

I think the update shirts page is excellent for comparisons, but I do have a couple of questions about the Raiders shirt. 1. Do they shrink? 2. Has anyone tried to wash his shirt a couple of dozen times before wearing? I believe that the color discrepancy may have to do with the fact that screen-use...
