I didn't know he had passed. Even after 16 years, I always had hope that I would see a new hat.

I'm glad I still have my "Ford Felt" hat.

Re: Young Indy Hat

I contacted Mr Swales in 1992 and ordered a YIJ poet from him. According to Swales, the Young Indy hat was an off the shelf, uncut Poet in Taupe (Mushroom brown as he described it). There is a quick shot in one of the episodes where Indy is hiding in a room and removes his hat revealing the stick-on...

Darthjones: thanks for clarifying that for me..

Bending Oak: The hat started out as a bit large for me and eventually became tight where it was almost uncomfortable to wear. I can get it on my head but I don't like the
shrinkage of it...

Re: Fedora for the Young Indy/YIJC Chronicles?

The brim on my YIJ hat is 3" with an 1-3/4" ribbon.

It's shrunken somewhat in the 20 years I've owned it. Could a reblock restore it's original size? it's 7-1/2"

John, what is an Olof??

Re: Fedora for the Young Indy/YIJC Chronicles?

I had this hat refurbished by HJ in late 1993 after it took a dip in San Francisco Bay. The original ribbon was darker in color and had a look that had three sections in its folding. The hat was an "off the shelf" poet with no trimming. Swales assured me this was the hat used in the YIJC. ...

Re: Vintage Herbert Johnson

It was ordered and delivered in July of 1988. I suppose the hat could've been older stock and fashioned with an older sweatband but I can't imagine them using a three years obsolete address label, especially if I had to return the hat if there were a problem.
