awesome

Great post KT! That is a very clear pic in both instances. The 2nd does show very well how tough the HH is compared to the softer lamb. Even with the weight on it the HH doesn't want to give much. The first pic shows the hide underneath nicely. Good to know and this will be a good reference for thos...

oh, eew. ok, I'll stick to the idea of going with a goatskin then and later distressing it.

Goat looks like it moves to a tan color from what i've seen.

Anyone distressed one of the new HorseHide jackets yet?

I was just curious if anyone had distressed a Horse Hide Jacket from Wested yet. So far I've seen nearly every kind of leather distressed and the color underneath proves to be different between skins. Valuable info for how a jacket will change its look as it ages. So what color would come out in a H...

Looks like its coming together very nicely... that may be the leather for my next wested :c) I'd like to see more pics when its done... is it "80's Fit?" Does the "80's Fit" have to be special requested or is that the default cut? I only ask because I specified neither as I had ...

yup

Yeah, that was my experience exactly. Pecards darkens and adds moisture back to the leather. That should be very evident on those half and half pictures. Sorry once again that you have to click the link but its worth a look. Cracking/broken leather will not be repaired, but further cracking due to m...

no problem

No problem, I just need to take a few more pics.. Something remarkable about these predistressed jackets is how much pecards they can take too. I gave it two coats and the each time the next day not a drop of pecards was left on the surface. So it seems to take a while to get the surface saturated. ...

Predistressed before and after pecard w/ pics

Ok, I promised a few guys that I would post some before and after pics of pecard treatment on a predistressed Wested. Here they are. Hopefully this will be helpful to people as a reference. Sorry I had to use links but no matter what I do the image function fails me :( http://www.imageviper.com/dip/...

Ransom, Fedora will bash your A/B in any style you like when you order. That comes with the purchase. I ordered mine open-crowned and bashed it myself. There are many excellent tutorials here for bashing a hat. Yeah, just the same I'd prefer someone experienced do it.. It's an expensive hat and no ...

Thanks Jpenman! I just took these two. Have had the hat on for about five hours since that last set. As far as the top dent, I almost never mess with it so it's pretty consistent with the first ones. Here's the front view, though it's difficult to get a sense of the "deep bash" theory fro...

I just thought I'd let people know that I noticed a sale on Beans Dress chinos in a dark khaki. I know you can get these anywhere but they carry the shirt as you may know as well. :)

Looking good! Says nice things about the HJ for me to consider before I get my first hat. Right now I'm conflicted between the Fed delux and the AB. Mainly because I'm not usually a hat guy. I love the hats on you guys, but dunno if it will work for me, hence the rationalization for going with the f...

I guess I'm one of the folks who ought to reply to this! For my brim I basically used this tutorial: http://www.whyaxis.net/indy/hatshaping/hatshaping.html keeping a photo of rick5150's brim as a reference. I did not trim the brim, and I don't think I used steam, but I might have used a little bit....

Ransom, how tight do you have the straps around the action pleats? Try loosening them off and see if that helps. Also, that jacket does look really tight, but wested may not take it back, so you may be faced with selling it :(. Regards Craig Unfortunately the straps have not been tightened at all. ...

pictures

Here is the scoop. Apparently my adjustment suggestions that "I'm closer to a 42R instead of a 40R" WERE taken into consideration with this jacket! So now the burden is on me to ship this 2 more ways. Perhaps I should do a 44 instead of a 42 if this is, say, roughly a 41? What do you guys ...

It's been my experience that you need to live with a Wested for a while before you really know what mods you want or need.
