Re: Alden Indies cut in half!

He just cut a 30-plus year old pair in half to compare them. Overall, the verdict was the older boots were a bit better. I love the Rose Anvil channel, but I have to confess it made me a bit sad to see how overpriced the Alden’s are, quality-wise. I was always planning on getting a pair one day, but...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey

I just sold mine less than a week after I got it. They do run big for sure. I ordered a 56 which was the same size as my Akubra which shrunk down pretty quick to probably a 55.5. It fit well with minimum padding. But that hat fit much better out of the box. Unfortunately the Harrison felt massive o...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey

I think that's a beautiful grey! I do think the brown hat is a little desaturated by comparison. That is to say, I think your brown hat is more grey, rather than your grey hat being sort of brown. In any case, both nice looking hats! My new HJ was a little large too (1/2 size), but after wearing it...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey

Sorry to imply I thought it was custom. The reason I asked was many times a vendor will take a supplied head measurement and take a tape to their off the rack hats to find the best/closest sweat in a hat to match. HatsDirect has done this for customers in the past. I was just curious if you had sup...

Did you give them an actual head measurement or a hat size when you ordered? Re! M Nope, but it’s not a custom job, it’s off the rack, so if it says 58 on the site I presume that’s what I’m getting, more or less. Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey

Very nice looking example. Personally I like this shade as you’ll see it changes tints depending on what light it’s being viewed in. It will also ‘tighten up’ the longer it’s worn due to the usual shrinkage of the sweat from perspiration and contact with your head. I’d rather them start out a bit l...

Yes, they are a narrow fit (or maybe a standard fit). I was ok as I was going up a half size, but I wouldn’t want a smaller pair. If they are Aussie made, they’re a smaller fit than my Blundstone boots.

Remember they do a range of lighter mid weight leathers for the A2 range - I have a swatch of their A2 seal brown horsehide and it's great, although in fairness I like the heavier leather and love my Highwayman and Barnstormer jackets.
