Re: Alden Indies cut in half!
He just cut a 30-plus year old pair in half to compare them. Overall, the verdict was the older boots were a bit better. I love the Rose Anvil channel, but I have to confess it made me a bit sad to see how overpriced the Alden’s are, quality-wise. I was always planning on getting a pair one day, but...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey
I just sold mine less than a week after I got it. They do run big for sure. I ordered a 56 which was the same size as my Akubra which shrunk down pretty quick to probably a 55.5. It fit well with minimum padding. But that hat fit much better out of the box. Unfortunately the Harrison felt massive o...

Well I for one would love to see, specially the new Wested offering as they are different from mine which I've had for about 10 yrs +/- May I ask your chest measurement and what size you ordered? My chest is 41/42 and I'm 5'5" Croft  Oh and I have a Noel Howard to, and I never wear it...

Just received my first Wested Indy shirt. Looks good - generous sizing in the chest which is good for me as I need the room! :) I do have an original unworn Noel Howard shirt that I bought shortly before he passed away. It always seemed like something I could never replace, so have been saving it fo...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey
I think that's a beautiful grey! I do think the brown hat is a little desaturated by comparison. That is to say, I think your brown hat is more grey, rather than your grey hat being sort of brown. In any case, both nice looking hats! My new HJ was a little large too (1/2 size), but after wearing it...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey
Sorry to imply I thought it was custom. The reason I asked was many times a vendor will take a supplied head measurement and take a tape to their off the rack hats to find the best/closest sweat in a hat to match. HatsDirect has done this for customers in the past. I was just curious if you had sup...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey
Did you give them an actual head measurement or a hat size when you ordered? Re! M Nope, but it’s not a custom job, it’s off the rack, so if it says 58 on the site I presume that’s what I’m getting, more or less. It’s probably my seventh Indy hat, so I’m pretty comfortably with my size now and seve...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey
Very nice looking example. Personally I like this shade as you’ll see it changes tints depending on what light it’s being viewed in. It will also ‘tighten up’ the longer it’s worn due to the usual shrinkage of the sweat from perspiration and contact with your head. I’d rather them start out a bit l...

Re: AdVintage Harrison Fedora Hat - Smoke Grey
The hat arrived. Very nicely packed. I’m overall quite impressed with the quality of the hat for the money. Perhaps not quite as nice as a Christy’s Adventure I ordered and sent back (didn’t like the ribbon colour), but good for the money. And this one is made in Spain, which is interesting. On the ...

Last I heard, Marc's still on a break. I placed an order with him several years ago before he "retired," and though he offered a refund the last time we corresponded, I told him to hold on to the funds for when he comes out of retirement. From what I've heard, he's a man of his word, so I...

Re: Wested boots?
Wore them all day on Saturday and developed a nasty blister on my left heel. For context, I often have issues like this with certain boots, but in this case I think it has to do with the inner stitching of the boot. It has a smooth heel area, surrounded by stitched lining in an upside down U shape, ...

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it (the skin), but it's working out well in the colder weather. I still favour the lighter weight skins, for mild weather conditions, but if you want something that feels substantial then brown cowhide it's an option to consider. Off the rack...

Yes, they are a narrow fit (or maybe a standard fit). I was ok as I was going up a half size, but I wouldn’t want a smaller pair. If they are Aussie made, they’re a smaller fit than my Blundstone boots.

I went to buy the American Eagle version, but sadly the postage to the UK is nearly twice the sale price of the cardigan. For £45 and change, plus possible customs charges, I may hold out for a home grown version.

Aero Indypendent Jacket
Remember they do a range of lighter mid weight leathers for the A2 range - I have a swatch of their A2 seal brown horsehide and it's great, although in fairness I like the heavier leather and love my Highwayman and Barnstormer jackets.
