What the Heck is in Pecards???

Well, if I told you all the exact ingredients, I would have to commit hari cari. Then I would be strung up on a pole in front of Pecards as a reminder to the other employees of what happens when the "SECRET" is let out of the bag. Kinda like the Bush Beans commercial where the dog i...

Surprise..

Apparently Red Wing didn't want anyone to know that they didn't make all their own stuff. Now I guess they came to their senses and they realize that it doesn't matter if anyone knows the truth.

I personally like using the Dressing over the Oil simply because I can't over apply the Dressing. The leather will only absorb as much as it needs. With the Oil you can over-saturate the leather and every time you flex it some oil will be squeezed out. Then again, some people swear by the oil becaus...

Here is another rule of thumb or thumbs: You can use an oil-based dressing or oil on any unsealed leather. Unsealed would mean that the leather doesn't have a micro-thin coating of plastic over it. Very hard to tell but 99.9% of leather jackets and boots don't have it but a good 50% of new furniture...

Lets clear some things up about Pecards different products

I will attempt to describe each product and some tidbits about do's and don'ts. Leather Dressing Apply when the leather is between 60-80 degrees F. Using fingers, work the dressing into the leather until evenly distributed. Only use a very thin coat with each application. Let the leather absorb as m...

Pecards Leather Dressing and Boot Oil *does* contain wax. This won't cause gore-tex a problem as long as you don't apply Pecards onto the gore-tex. Just use the dressing or oil on the leather portions of the boot and you won't have to worry about clogging up anything. Pecards won't transfer to the g...

Ha, ha, ha!!

Rixter....I just had a vision in my head of my boss asking me what in the heck I was doing to our leather samples as I carefully beat the tarnation out of them. "Controlled destruction" most likely would get me fired... LOL! Does sound like fun though.

Good new indead! You hit on another use for the brown dressing though...if it tints your hands a little bit then I suspect that if a person were to apply it to their face they would look as though they had been out on a dig for a couple of weeks in the desert! Stop!!! I was just kidding. Now wipe th...

It is a little confusing isn't it. This is the scoop: All the dressings, Jells and oils are oil based. The Leather Lotion is water based. The Silicones are silicone based. -------------------------- If you use the oil based conditioners and then try to use the water based lotions you won't ge...

Think that's bad?!?! How about me going to the web page to make sure that I didn't write it down wrong and seeing that I didn't upload the pictures of the new dressings! I should be thanking *you* for bringing this to my attention.

Michaelson, Thank you for reviewing our new black and brown dressings. Your opinion goes miles ahead of whatever a manufacturer says to everyone on Indygear. A little about the new products....we decided long ago not to get in the dye business for various reasons. I didn't see anything wrong with 't...
