Sorry Jace,

I didn't mean to insult your intelligence. You're an old pro from the sounds of it.

With the mods you described it sounds like your next jacket will be your holy grail of jackets.

Cheers

Thanks. I was just kidding about my sewing ability anyway. I wasn't worried about how good it looked because no one will see it. That's what makes the inside pocket the perfect place to go inside the jacket.

By the way folks, my 42 standard wested is up for sale in the want ads and I will leave it there for a while so COW members can have first crack at it before I put it up on ebay.

Cheers!

[quote="Doug C"]Hey Erri wan, the whole time I've been reading through this thread I've been saying to myself just what Pegasus has confirmed. Cotton mesh or a linen type of backing. I thought thats what it was right off the bat because when I let my sleeves out that's the stiff material i...

Jace, Here's my recommendation to you.... -Don't try to outhink Wested's pattern. That's what I did on the first one and now I am paying for it by having to purchase another one and try to sell the other. -Read agent5's ultimate screen accurate raiders jacket post very carefully. -Have a friend/fami...

I wear a 40 regular suit jacket and my actual chest measurement with arms held out to the side is exactly 40". When I ordered my first jacket, most people recommended going a size bigger to accomodate a sweater, extra layer, etc. So I ordered a 42 reg. After wearing it for a while I really star...

I think when we ask for tapered sleeves, what we actually get is an overall narrower sleeve.

Just received my latest jacket and possibly a few insights.

Once again Wested has done an amamzing job. I followed agent5's instructions and went off my experience from my first jacket and came up with my ultimate jacket. My first one was goatskin, this newest one is lambskin. For those that are wondering, and have asked the question a hundred times before, ...

Hey erri_wan, I just received my latest jacket. It is an 80's fit raiders lambskin and it had the exact same marks as yours. My first jacket was a goat and did not have those marks (probably becasue goat is that much stiffer than lamb). I also did not like those marks so I opened the stitching in th...

I have worn many sizes in my life in all different styles of footwear ranging from an 8 to a 10.5 (I'm not exagerrating) so getting a good fit online wasn't easy. For the most part, in normal everyday runners, dress shoes, casual shoes, etc. I wear a 9.5 and sometimes a 10. I followed the advice of ...

I was also kind of surprised at some of my "after treatment" pics. The shine from the flash made them look just like the ones on the "boot" portion of the main gear site.

Check out this link http://www.1stairborne.com/webgear.html

It lists the water bottle as a "2 pint water bottle". I don't know if that is accurate but it sounds about right.

M1910 canteen held one quart. The canteen cup held about 3 cups or a pint and a half. The P37 canteen probably held about one quart as well. I will do some more checking with my WWII buddies and get the exact measurement. I know a few guys who have them.

Aldens for Christmas

This is the first time I've posted, but I think I can help you here. I also just ordered some Aldens but I didn't do my research so I have sent them back to exchange for a smaller size. But that's another story which I will tell only if anyone is interested. I have, however, owned lots of boots as I...
