Re: Webley WG COW "27" pistol project!

Got mine today as well. #30/50. A perfect fit in my Webley holster. This is a fine replica and it really reflects all the work you put into it. A tip of my fedora to ya and thanks very much.

Oscar Wilde could be the "Poet" the hat was named after. If you google images of him, there are several shots of him wearing and holding a tall crowned, wide brim hat.

My attempt at an Indy Straw

I found a couple of old straw hats in the attic a few days ago. One was an old Indy straw in a loose natural color weave that was beyond saving except the sweat was in good condition and it still had the Indy plane sticker inside. The other hat was a panama from Country Gentleman bought at Macy's fo...

OK, so the 2 could mean 1972 with older liner and sweat or 1962 or 1952 or......? The color of the sweat with the plastic underneath would suggest and older year, though.

The label is pre-1965, the year HJ moved to Old Burlington Street, though from what Mr swales told me, they used liners and sweats from old addresses after they moved. Lacking a flange you can iron the brim flat on the lowest steam setting and once flat but still pliable, pick it up and hold the brim against you and work a slight curve in the edge with your fingers. Remember the clip of Joe Jr. doing it like that down in Ft Worth at the Peters Bros store?
