thebovrilmonkey,
Spiffy little knot you got there....Question: What kind of cord are you using? Looks a lot like mason twine, so I'm curious....

shagbd and Dan, Thanks for the info.....The only reason for my initial response to that picture of the whip was just how dark it looked after only one month. After looking at the pics that were posted of it when it was new, I see that it was just a darker whip from the get-go. I'm actually a big fan...

Personally, I go for natural and black, if for no other reason than the fact that there's such a stark contrast between them. Plus, you get to watch the natural darken over time until you can barely tell the difference....Roohide is just such a sweet leather because of that aging factor.... Highest ...

Hey Lauren, I'm so happy to hear that the whips are serving you well - just keep me posted on how they handle as they break in, and the progress you're making with them. Just keep up what you're doing, and you'll be wowing all of us in no time at all. Also, thanks for the compliments on the I...

Hey Lauren, I just saw this post in the wee hours of the morning - it really made my day. Thank you so much for the kind words, and for the awesome pics. Simon, For a first attempt at non-leather whips, that's a doggone nice pair right there. Very fine work indeed! Just out of curiosity, where did you get this material? I've been making nylon whips for over 5 years now, and I don't believe I've ever seen or heard of the stuff you have. Incidentally, ...

Hmmm....I'm no expert, but if I was to venture a professional guess as to why the strands look so funky, it would be this: The maker braided the whip from the tail end down to the butt, slicing the 4 strands into 8 strands at a certain point. I've seen that done on numerous bullwhips, including the ...

Pyramid Blaster, The knot in those pics is actually just a plain old 3 pass, 5 part, 4 bite Turkshead knot. That is the same knot as we see on Indy's whip - it's just that the guy who made that whip used a different shape for the knob it's tied onto....The pineapple knot you were asking about is mad...

Robert, A very nice job on the whips, man - that's a right purdy pair indeed. My only question: Can you post full pics of the whips? Hey Swindy, Very nice job on the cracking! Dan, Thanks for being good enough to post a pic of the Elstree whip....Seeing it again, I have to agree, it does look like an altogether different whip. First off, my hat is off to Bernardo....That's a mighty fine lookin' whip ya got there.... Now, on the issue of the coils of the whip on the train wall....I remember early last year when Elstree did an eBay auction, selling that whip. Hey Adam, Hehe....The thought about the diameter did cross my mind, I will admit. I just didn't feel like I was in position to question you judgement. Kilgour, If I remember correctly, an intensive study was done on this whip by Sergei. I can't remember every last little detail about his findings, but he said that the whip was 8 feet long. If you go searching into the archives, you can probably still find Sergei's original post on this subject. Ho...
