Yea, El Paso Saddlery is great!

If you're looking for an exact Indy style holster, check out Western Stage Props. Their holsters are made by Alfonso's of Hollywood last time i checked and Alfonso's is know for quality gunleather.

Aldens is truely a geat company to deal with. Back when I got my A405's they accidently sent me the wrong size. I called them up and had the correct pair the next day, before the other pair was even in teh back back to them. :shock: Talk about service! :tup: This was the San Francisco store BTW.

Vintage guns can get confusing, especially when they have been made chambered for several different rounds. It can get even more confusing when they are like the Victory model and chambered for a few different .38 caliber rounds. Like you said, better to be safe and check then sorry. :tup:

I've got a local cobbler replacing the heels on my Aldens for me right now. He said due to the size he'd have to use a heal designed for a 17 and then fit it to the shoe. The really cool thing is that its only cost me $15. 8)

As others have said, many people buy a Model 10 instead of a 1917 because the Model 10 is relatively cheap and easy to find. There is no difference in availability of ammo between the .45ACP and .38 Special. Both can be purchased by the hundreads at the nearest Wal-Mart. :wink: Congrats on teh Model...

SWEEEEET looking jacket! 8)

I particularly love the fit of the sleeves. My biggest (and really only) complaint with my Wested is the massive sleeve openings. Looks like Todd has hit the nail on the head. :tup:

If I were buying a holster for a real S&W I'd buy a Western Stage Props. The last several examples Ive seen were made by Alfonso's of Hollywood. Those holsters are the real deal, not props.

I carry IWB without trouble. As kobol said, the jacket is a bit short, but works with IWB or a shoulder holster that doesn't require a tie down. OWB isn't really an option unless your wearing a longer untucked shirt. I would suggest a good IWB along the line of Milt Sparks' Versa Max II. That Kimber...

Cotton all the way. Wool is fine, but generally speaking if its actually heavy enough to withstand serious "adventuring" its not going to be suitable for warm weather wear.
