Re: I feel like my heels are hanging ove the edge of a precipice
After careful consideration of everyone's input (thank you all for that) I had it down to either a Penman or a Fed IV Deluxe. The Fed was more in my price range but I knew what I wanted and settled on the Penman. An Adventurebilt would have been nice but it's too much for me at this point. I called ...

Re: I feel like my heels are hanging ove the edge of a precipice
Judging by what has been offered here as advice, I'm starting to lean towards either an Akubra or a Penman. Is there anyone who can say which is darker?

Re: I feel like my heels are hanging ove the edge of a precipice
I am looking for an Indy style more or less. When people mention the Akubra are they writing about the Adventurer that David Morgan sells or something else?
I've been looking at that one and the Lawson too.

I feel like my heels are hanging ove the edge of a precipice
After several years of gear collecting and sharing the same fascination that many here have had since Raiders first came out on the big screen. I’ve acquired many whips (after promising myself that one would be enough,) two pairs of Alden boots, a Magnoli shirt (excellent by the way,) pants of many ...

You could try "Whip It" by DEVO or "The Sabre Dance" a classical piece piece by Khachaturian (I didn't know who did it, I had to look it up.)

New from J Crew?
I was going through the new Men's Health (Sept 09) and on the flip side of the "Guide to Style," on page 16 there is a pair of J Crew ankle boots that look much closer to Aldens than their regular work boot. They have the same looking sole and the lace hook sinstead of eyelets and the colo...

Third vote for Magnoli. I order a lot of custom sized shirts. It's not that I'm especially tall or broad I just notice that shirts that fit me in the shoulder are very wide in the waist and often just a bit too short in the sleeve. My magnoli shirt fits incredibly well, in fact it's the best fitting...

Like many here I stressed about the sizing of the 405 prior to getting them. When I got measured for them (and they perfectly) they were a differrent size from any athletic shoe (which varied in size anyway) but the sizing was the same as any other shoe. For example I have three pairs of diffrent Al...

Needing a hand from you guys
...or at least one of you. I'm in the market for a new whip and while I'm thinking about a nylon whip I'm also giving serious consideration to a Russell Shultz. I’ve got a Morgan, two Strains and recently one from Bernie W. I knew a guy a few years back that had a stock whip from Russell and it was ...

Pecards on wood
It seems that everyone uses pecards as the standard leather care from their whips to their dog collars. Has Peacards been known to stain wood at all? I've got a couple of knives that I have some sentimental attachment to and wonder if Pecards will soak into the wood handles and cause then to become ...

My Aldens were not difficult to break in and are very comfortable boots to wear for long periods. I've had some very good combat boots and the usual cripplers that are issued. Can someone smarter than me answer these?
I've got a couple of questions for someone out there. When a whip is made and it says that the whip has a two plaited belly, I'm going to assume that there are two layers of plaiting that are underneath the outside. How many strands of leather are used in each layer of the belly? I know that 12 or 1...

Wool button-fly pants with no pleats? Also hopefully in the "officer pink" or close enough colour with flap rear pockets. Anyone?

I’m on the verge of ordering my second Wested. The first one was a dark brown lambskin. I ordered a 46T and should have gone with a 44T instead because it was just too big on me.
