Re: Is aAlden Updating the 405?
Disregard the questions about Schmidty's boot sales, I just caught over in the vendor section he has 'retired'. Sorry to hear. Time to search a new source.

Re: Is aAlden Updating the 405?
I understand that the 'new model' 405 is out at some retailers, though I do not know which and have not searched them out. I would like a new pair if anyone has found a retailer with a decent price, they are supposed to be the same price since they are a replacement and not an upgrade. Does Schmidty...

Re: AB Raiders arrived today
Wonderful hat indeed! Before you go to work on tweaking it, I'd suggest just wearing it for a while (someone may have already said the same, I didn't read all the thread), see what sort of relation and agreement the two of you come to.

The gentleman traveler is not the 1908 pictured, they do not have toe stitching. The 1908's are not available in the US. I have a pair of the GT's and they do run a bit on the big side. Trying them on is a must, or order two pair and return one. I normally wear a 10, but a 9.5 fit better. I noticed ...

Indy Straw is a great way to go, had mine on just last weekend as West Texas heats up. A little searching will provide more info, here is a link to a small thread on mine from last summer--well, minus the pics, I re-set all that stuff so maybe I'll put them back up for a little while. http://www.ind...

Depp in fedora in today's paper
In today's Sunday paper 'Parade Magazine' insert there is a pic of Johnny Depp wearing an AB appearing fedora. I'm sure one of you guys has a better eye than I to determine. Not sure we've seen a pic of him wearing it yet, or at least I have not. It is in the very front in the readers question secti...

Another option is Texas Hatters. They do custom work, blockings, everything. They used to be in Buda, but recently moved to Lockhart. I have not been to their new store. They have done work for me in the past and it was excellent, real nice folks too. I have been in and out of Paris Hatters, but nev...

Great bag! That is until you step on and break the plastic quick release buckle (which I've done) and end up with a useless strap. If we can modify it with a metal buckle of some sort, that bag is a sure winner. Keep your feet off of it in dark hotel rooms and the buckle is not an issue. For the moe...

Likewise. I very much like the custom fit, and that the boots can be ordered without the moc-toe stitching, which to me only introduces an avenue for water entry. Magnoli can also build the heel height to request as well as the sole material. If the leather thickness/durability is up to par, I'll or...

magnoli vs. alden boot leather help
I intend on ordering either Magnoli or Alden boots this week. I prefer Magnoli for personal reasons, but I am asking for your comments on the leather quality of Magnoli before I order sight unseen. I know Alden leather, but how does Magnoli measure up in durability? BTW-Magnoli's site is 'question o...

Thanks for the comments and for the tip on the stiffener, I was wondering and will now get some. I'm going to try to keep the rear brim slightly turned up, at least for now. Thanks fellas. It is a thicker straw and a thicker weave than a traditional panama/montecristi. Probably closer to the natural colored inexpensive Scala and Dorfman's that I've owned in the past, but much less stiff either due to the weave or to the higher quality material. There is a choice in colo...

New PB Indy Straw
I just received my PB straw Indy. Took them about 3 weeks to deliver. When ordering you can choose which basic movie style you desire based on each of the three movies. I chose Raiders with the taller crown and tighter pinch. They will combine styles as well, such as a tight pinch on a lower crown, ...

I recently came across one of those brief clips in a magazine in a shop somewhere. Missed this thread the first time. I phoned PB to ask about this hat just yesterday. I was curious as to the crown height. Their answer surprised me in that they bash it semi-custom. I was told to 'choose my movie' and they in turn would adjust the bash and crown height to match. I assumed that they...

Fedora is not an online retailer. He is a resource, a professional, and most importantly, a friend. He builds hats more to our benefit than his own these days. If one desires an immediate hat, go to a retail site, hit a button, receive it in days, and wear it well. Otherwise, order an AB, take a num...

Sticks out a fair bit below the handgrip, but looks formidable and...
