Re: How do you deal with waiting on a jacket?
I just find other things to occupy my time. Read comics, watch runs of tv shows, exercise, etc. I'm waiting on a Doctor Who coat from Magnoli at present, so trust me, I need the distraction! [emoji28]

Thanks for the tip, Michaelson. I know better than to go against your advice by now. Otherwise, I'd be hiding under the Plymouth!

Thanks, all! It is magic, isn't it, Duck? It's still curing now. I gave it a light buffing, but I like letting the stuff soak in on its own. I might even go over it again. :p

Re: Jacket distressing TIPS
My advice on distressing is that less is more. Start very small and work your way up. The first jacket that I ever distressed I almost ruined. I went way overboard. No, there are no pics. It looked like a tiger had clawed the sleeves of my jacket and left claw marks. Fortunately for me a round of br...

Recently, my buddy Ben (fifthchamber) decided to distress his jacket, which made me want to restore mine. Here's some shots. Albums ahead, decent sized shots, so be warned. Mods, I apologize ahead of time if I'm doing this wrong. before: http://imgur.com/a/7qh9c" onclick="window.open(this....

I started out on Minnesota Jones's 6-footer. My IOAB is an 8, but due to learning on those, I can work a 10 just fine. I agree with the 6-8 foot recommendation.

Shoe MGK on my Red Wings
I bought this product at a mall from a salesman years ago called Shoe MGK. I've been using it on my Red Wings ever since, but the effectiveness of the product has never been more noticeable than now. After a pipe in the front yard broke, I had to help dig a trench to isolate it and fix it so the hou...

During times like these, I like to trot out a column that I read by Miss Manners years ago about how people dress. She was addressing a woman who was constantly being chagrined for "dressing up." Miss Manners advised the woman to come back with the following as opposed to a snarky comment:...

I did this to a Wested of mine years ago. It looked like it had been clawed by a tiger. I used brown shoe polish on the areas that looked most like "claw" marks, and then covered the rest in brown Pecards, and it went on to look really nice despite the disaster it started out as. I distres...

Gonna throw this one out there .... I'm overweight. I wear the jacket so people won't notice. In all seriousness, the jacket makes it easier for me to hide my extra weight and not have it "pop" so much, as it were. I tend to stick with a lot of costumes that have coats that can hide that f...
