Re: The pros and cons of an 8 foot vs 10 foot bullwhip

Well just to add to the above - I'm 6'3" -- have all sizes of whips from 3 ft to 12 ft -- and my preference is for 6 ft to 8 ft - especially for an Indy style whip.

Re: The pros and cons of an 8 foot vs 10 foot bullwhip

DJN - what are some of the things you have found you can do with the 8 foot that is more difficult with the 10? A 9 foot has also been suggested. Do the 9 foots handle more like the 8, the 10, or is it unique to itself? Thanks for your input as well. No problem. As Indiana Jeff said above - it's ve...

Re: The pros and cons of an 8 foot vs 10 foot bullwhip

As someone who has WAY too many whips in his collection - LOL - many 6 ft, 8 ft, 9 ft and 10 ft -- I would suggest you go for the 8 for sure. 8 ft looks just as good on the belt as the 10 - and yet it's easier to learn and do more stuff with than the 10 ft. 8 is a great length all around for a Morga...

Re: Bonhams auction whip

All very suspicious here. First of all that whip pictured on the Bonhams page is not a whip from any of the films - stunt whip or otherwise - and the whip used in the dragging scene was a Morgan (or at least a Morgan braided over cable or safety line). The whip pictured is not even close. Second - w...

But, since I have too many irons in the fire right now, it will be awhile before I make an order, though I'm thinking of having Joe make mine 7' long, possibly 7.5', and possibly with a 12" handle, with a silver ferrule so I can perhaps have my initials engraved on it. It will come out much li...

Re: So which movie is this one from?

It's from TOD I'm pretty sure (although some of those whips were holdovers from Raiders) - thats the film that Vic did the most doubling for Harrison on due to his back issue. I know Vic and Wendy and his brother Andy - I worked with him back when he directed a feature (Joshua Tree aka Army of One)....

Is the handle 10 or 12 inches? Seems like 12 to me but not sure... Thanks, Franco I asked Joe to use his "LoneStar" style whip as a base to work from which I believe is a ten inch handle. I wanted a shorter handle than his official Zorro/Alex Green style whips. I needed something a little...

Just wanted to post for all to enjoy. Joe just took this pic of my new whip that on it's way to me. It is 5 foot, 16 plait in black kangaroo with a sterling silver ferrule.
