Re: David Morgan Whips still worth it?

Unfortunately, the whips made by David's hands will hold their value, more so than the ones offered after his passing. Sorry you're struggling to sell it but time and place can be a factor. I'm sure the right person will come along and be very pleased with it.

Re: Everyman (penman) or Steele and jones raiders fedora?

Yup Jeremiah got the chance to check out my HJ replica from Steele n Jones. I absolutely love this hat. I never added any extra stiffner. It might have felt a little stiff compared to his Penman but I found it reasonably soft and supple compared to hats from other vendors. Over the years it has soft...

No the hats not damaged in any way. One of my first hats was an akubra federation and I literally pummeled it into the dirt to get that worn in and seasoned feel. It really didn't do anything to the hat except give it character. They're pretty tough.

Of course, I've inspected every inch of my boots plenty. Just try to be patient and see if they dry. If the gap doesn't go away and it bothers you that much there's plenty of options to have a heel put on. I don't think you'll have to do that though. Your boots should be fine. Re: alden heels in the rain

Seeing how you already bought a pair, it doesn't help to recommend buying a cheaper pair of boots. I'd be surprised if a Walmart pair of boots lasted 12 years with normal use. That said, Alden's are great for everyday wear, and I never had an issue wearing them in rain, even a downpour. The only pro...

I have a 12 year old pair and a year old pair of 405's. I've said it before in other posts, I really wish I would have bought two pairs 12 years ago. The quality is outstanding and the are by far the best pair of boots I've ever owned. I was disappointed with the new pair. The heel construction is s...

Forrest for the trees has the right idea! Check eBay for deals of Alden's in your size. I check it weekly, hoping to find another pair with the cotton lining. The first pair of Alden's I purchased back in 2002 are amazing. They're still going strong and I've only had to re sole them once. I bought a...

If function is what you're after, I feel you would have a more enjoyable experience learning and practicing with an 8ft. Take some time and break that 8ft in and then consider a 10ft. Oh! And post pictures when you get it! :)

I got pretty lucky. I wear a 13 in clarks wallabees, 14 1/2C in aldens and 15 in running shoes. For some reason, I don't think Alden provides the chomexel in 14's. Which is odd. I would love to get a pair of those, or the older dark brown adventurebilts. Those are beautiful.

Exactly. Mine were about $500 from Sherman bros in Phili. Pretty sure they're the only Alden dealer in my area. I think back then in 2003, my first pair only cost around $325, which is the most I've ever paid for shoes.
