Re: The Federation IV Display Page
Great job, looking really nice, especially the crown! And you will be tweeting it as long as you own it ;) That is a great color too, looks perfect for summer. Thanks, HF! :TOH: Definitely going to be my spring/summer hat. I couldn't find a straw fedora I liked, so I decided to get what I really wa...

Re: The Federation IV Display Page
Here is the tawny fawn! I went for a LC bash, so there’s a good bit of cowboy curl in the brim. It’s remarkable how the tawny fawn is so stony in the sunlight and then a nice brown shines through in the shade. Such a lovely hat! Tonight is the rainy swim meet, so we’ll see how she looks in the morni...

Just bashed and shaped my new tawny fawn Fed IV! The size 60 finally came and I'm super psyched about it. It's pretty grey outside here at the moment, so all pics are coming out poorly with indoor lighting. I'll post some pics assuming we get some good sunshine soon. It's supposed to rain tomorrow e...

Been eyeing a tawny as well, congrats! It looks like a beautiful summer color, can’t wait to see some pictures! I ended up ordering two in the tawny fawn after panicking about the size of my noggin. The 59 came first & is now up in the Bazaar. :TOH: The 60 is few days behind...I'll post pics on...

Thanks, Jeff. I have a new tawny fawn Fed IV on the way. Perhaps I’ll give it a whirl with that before I request it on the bigger purchase in the works.

Re: Is Herbert Johnson the holy grail of indy fedoras now?
I suppose. I still think some of the wind has been let out of the sails. I guess it depends on what you define as “holy grail.” I’m a huge U2 fan. They made a film in 1988 called Rattle & Hum that was black and white up until gorgeous color footage from a performance at Sun Devil Stadium in Temp...

Which brings me back to: If HJ is making the Raiders poet as well as, if not better than, any other Raiders hatter out there, and acquiring a Raiders hat from the original movie studio supplier means something to you… …Wouldn’t that be a Holy Grail? …or the Ark of the Raiders hats… To me? 100% I du...

Re: Is Herbert Johnson the holy grail of indy fedoras now?
So if I'm reading that article correctly: * HJ never actually "made" the Poet used for Raiders, as they outsourced production for some products and made some other products in-house—the Poet being one that was outsourced. * Swales fine-tuned the outsourced Poets they received, then sent th...

Any examples of Last Crusade but with a turn?
I've always loved the S swoop of the turned Raiders, but the height of the crown and super tight pinch have just never looked right on me. I'm thinking about a TLC for my next hat, but considering a slight turn in order to give the brim a bit more character. As it's not screen accurate, I have a fee...

Goodness, it’s been years since I’ve been here—I’m so glad to see that COW is still the absolute best place to be for Indy gear and that a handful of folks who were around then are still here! Well, I bit the bullet and went for the half size down. I got them for $69 at www.6pm.com, which is the cheapest online right now, and they had no size 10.5's in dark brown (nor dark tan), and they only had three pairs left in size 10s. I called around to a few Rockport stores in the area and no one...

I'd love a SA shirt that's nicely made and that I can wear to work. A Magnoli would be ideal, but I can't quite bring myself to lay down a hundred bucks--especially since my $80 L.L. Bean pants are on the way. Which of the other shirts is generally considered the best in terms of SA-ness and quality...

So I've had my Wested Raiders for a few years now (thank you, Peter! it's my pride and joy!), and I think I take far too much care of it. ;) I'd love to give it a nice, naturally distressed look---and yet at the same time, I find myself feeling the need to treat it with my Pecard's lotion every now ...

I know that Wested made some of the Star Wars costumes (and still does, I believe), but they don't say which.
I've always loved Han Solo's black jacket in "Empire." It's not leather, so I doubt Wested made it, though. Anyone know of where to find a good replica?
