I started out on COW but after seeing several of the guys from the Fedora Lounge show up at the Queen Mary, I migrated to vintage clothing. Seems all my vintage fedoras are grey. Just my Indy hats are brown or sable.

I'd get the plastic hat shaper and use a heat gun to reform it to the #52 shape. Use that side-by-side photo from Howard W. as a guide.

I've been looking at the Steranko artwork and think the mag pouch was canvas instead of leather. If you compare the leather jacket, Sam Brown strap, leather pants belt and leather holster, none of them match the mag pouch in the artwork.
