batting removal

I kept the batting in my US Wings G-2, but I opted to remove it from my US Wings Horsehide Indy. Get yourself a seam ripper and undo one of the seams in the middle of the jacket. Make the open seam big enough to get your hand and part of your arm into.I think your best bet is to sort of open it up i...

the bating (insulation)

I concur. One of the first things I did with my US Wings INdy Horsehide was take apart a small part of the seam of the lining and start yanking out the batting. My trash can looked like a killed a teddy bear...lol. The jacket drapes much better without this. Also I think that a liberal misting of ju...

Lining Repair

US Wings does not repair or replace linings though. I have a "G-8" jacket that I have had since 2001 that is in desperate need of a new liner. Since I live near Chicago I am thinking about taking it to Nate's Leather to have it replaced. http://www.natesleather.com/LeatherRepair.ivnu Nate'...

Glasses Question (please don't yell at me ;) )

Okay...can someone please give me an definitive answer in regards to the glasses. I know that BOIC is out of business. I understand that Berkshire Chase is the alternative. Now which model ? The English Beaufort 2 or the Panto? Which finish? Do the English Beaufort 2's come with cable ear pieces? Pl...

I concur. I feel that the canvas is of a much higher quality on the new green bag. And the leather is defintely thicker. A good purchase.

Be Careful with Blanco

Just so you guys know...blanco is not permanent. It is almost a clay like substance that will just cover the material. Do not be surprised if it comes off on your clothing. Seldom did British soldiers blanco the back of their web gear because it would get on their uniforms. Also, respirator cases we...

Brotherhood Ring

Today I received my Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword ring from Relic Raider and I could not be more pleased. The ring is made of white metal and silver in colour like he said. Not only did he get it out to me very quickly, but the fit is perfect and quality is also very high. Good job Relic Raider...

Good find Bink. The French shirts usually have a number stamped below the collar on the inside. You shirt looks very similiar. I'm not sure if you guys have ever looked at the British section of the What Price Glory page, but Jerry Lee's khaki desert shirts also make nice adventure wear. --Scott

That shirt looks very much like one of the Khaki French Army Shirts. Are there any stamps in it at all ?

Perhaps this may sound odd, but after reading about Scandanavia Jones' experiements I had a bit of a revelation regarding the infamous black stripe. While I am relatively new to the Indiana Jones scene, I am a somewhat experienced collector of militaria. Here is my theory. The black stripe is actual...

Crooked side attachments

Hi Guys!

The reason the side attachements are sewn on crooked was intentional. The bag was made to slope towards your chest so it would be easier to access the respirator.

IndyBlues,

Trust me, the smell will dissipate after a few days of use. However if you want you might want to spray some Fabreeze on it and throw it in the dryer for a little bit. That should remedy any problems.

CoJones, Did you buy your watch off of ebay from some people in Ohio? I have one almost identical to yours except it has the other style band. It ran great when I first got it, but after a few weeks it started acting up. I took it to a watchmaker and he repaired the winding stem (some screw rusted o...
