It is cow hide. But it definitely a different leather than THeMantis jacket. I saw on his site that he has two of them, his second one looks more like the kind I got. The first one in the post above has a kind of suedy look about it (at least in the photographs). The jacket I received first (which w...

it´s the standard dark brown as advertised on the wested homepage. I think the look of the colour in the movie shifts from a brown to a dark brown depending on the lighting. Also in the movie the jacket is wet and heavily used so I expect the colour and look of my jacket to change with use also. The...

"Tomorrow Never Dies" Bond jacket finally arrived
Hi, after I had to send the original jacket back because I ordered the wrong size, today I received my new jacket from Wested. It was torture to wait for it a second time, and after overall 4 months at last I got it. http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/8286/bondfronthz1.jpg http://img166.imageshack.u...

Now I know what it feels like
to have a perfect brandnew Wested leather jacket lying on your dresser, and not be able to wear it because you send it back to get a different size because you were dumb enough to oder the wrong one. Saturday I received my "Tomorrow never dies" leather jacket, after 6 weeks of waiti...

My homemade whip
Hi, i finally finished my first selfmade whip, thanks to the help of Robert Duke and the fantastic "How to make whips" by Ron Edwards. I have mixed emotions regarding the (almost ) finished whip. It is almost finished because I still couldn´t figure out the way to do the Turk´s Head proper...

taking the plunge into whipmaking
Hi, now that I read „How to make whips“ by Ron Edwards over a dozen times, bought myself an aussie strander, a skiver and a beveling tool and got some leather I am ready to start off into an adventure of its own kind: making a 10 ft Indy-style bullwhip. The leather is cowhide (dark brown and light b...

Ok, so is there a book that is more useful for bullwhip making? And second question: Which tools are an absolute must, except for a sharp leather knife or scissor? Is it possible to make a decent bullwhip without anything else? Because if not, I may have a hard time finding these tools here in Germa...

Robert, thank you for your enlightning answer. And I appreciate your offer very much to answer my questions. I will make use of that as soon as I start to make my first whip. I checked back on Dittmers homepage and I think I understand now that you basically try to get the full length of the overlay...

How thick should the overlay leather be?
Hi, I am currently reading myself into the whole subject of whipmaking and my copy of "How to make whips" hasn´t arrived yet, but nevertheless I have two -maybe- stupid questions: How thick should the leather of the overlay be? If you are planning on making a 10 foot kangaroo whip, how do ...

I just checked the German Hat scene and it may well be that the grey hat worn by Ford in the Plane scene from the beginning and the hat worn by the German in the cairo scene are the very same, but they are definitely not a grey Trilby like the one shown above. To me they look just like a grey HJ. An...

Isn´t this a Trilby?
Hi, I am no expert on hats but this one looks like a Trilby to me. I understand that this type of hat may fall under the category Fedora, but I doubt that it has the same brim and crown size. From the Trilbys I have encountered I would say that it is considerably smaller than the Indy style Fedora, ...

Quick question about sizes for cotton jacket
Hi, I think I am going to invest 85 dollars/equivalent in euros and get myself a cotton Wested before I make the financial leap towards a leather Wested to see if the style of the jacket suits me. Now my question. Do they only come in the sizes featured on the web page or does Peter make them matchi...
