My NEW S&W HE2

I haven't posted here in a while, but I had to share this one.
I just acquired a British contract .455 HE2.
It's serial number is consistent with British contract guns, which the Bapty revolver was. Plus it has the same British markings in the same spot as the Bapty.
So...this week it gets these grips put on it (when they arrive in the mail)
And from there I send it to the gunsmith where he will remove the original barrel and install this one:
Of course, I'm going to have him cut that barrel down to 4 inches and put a Bapty style ramp sight on it too.
So, pretty soon I'll have a REAL Indy gun.
Waddya think?

I'm glad you're keeping the original barrel intact and modifying the replacement! Don't get rid of the original barrel!

Oh man...

No matter how much I'd be willing to pay, I wouldn't be allowed to own such a beauty.
Congrats Andy! It's a real keeper. If you ever wanna part with it, let me know (it'll only take me two years to get a license).
HIGH regards,
Marc

How do they attach the ramped style front sight? Weld it on?

Silver solder or brazing would work.
Well, these days even an epoxy adhesive for that matter.
How was the original done?

I just finished the indy gun, I hope it gets on for you guys to see. It's the best job I have ever done. Now that the original has been measured, no problem making them just like it. Just a lot of time, wearing out files, and elbow grease.

I wish the gentleman I made the gun for would post pictures. From now on I will take pictures myself and post them. I am very proud of my job, and have several inquirys about doing more. This kind of work I really like.

I'm still waiting on my gun. My particular gunsmith works VERY slowly. When I get it, I'll be sure to post pics.
