The 1912 model fedora [from The Last crusade]

My Mike Moore of Buckaroo Hatters http://www.buckaroohatters.com/ '1912' model fedora.

I named it that because it is based on the hat worn by the character Fedora in The Last Crusade.
That hat had some of both western hat and fedora styling to me. I told Mike what I wanted and showed him a few photos. He took that and here is the results. A hat that really captures the feel of what I 'think' an early fedora looked like.

The brim is 3 1\8 inch wide [ wider than I have ever had.. but I like it on this hat...], the front of the crown is 5 1\2 inchs the back is 4 7\8 inchs. The ribbon is about 1 1\4 wide. The crown is creased in the way it was in the film, what I call a kind of relaxed c-crown. Not quite a c but not a center dent either.
I would say this hat is pretty close to the stiffness of what my federation was when it arrived. With wear and use this will soften out well I believe.The felt feels smooth and has the look I wanted for this type fedora. I can already tell it will break in good.

I hope to get some shots with my new fedora and my homemade Cross of Coronado.

Very Nice. I'm not a SA crusader, so I think the look is Great. I can't get on the website though. Do you know anything about that?

Thanks everyone. This hat is 100 % beaver, and not SA. I had a regular bow instead of just the 'keeper' that is on the film hat.
I also took the advise of a friend from the Fedora Lounge and lowered the front crease about 1\2 inch. I think it made a big difference.

This hat was really a custom, I told Mike what I wanted and he just went with it.

Here is a shot from the film... my 1912 looks pretty close I think.

what was the price on the hat and how long did it take for it to arrive at your door?

This is not the same hat, but it is the same liner...

this liner is from a hat named 'The Harvester' that Mike made at the same time for me.

Thanks, I believe it captures the spirit of the hat. I love a working mans fedora and this is a working mans hat if there ever was one.
The hat in the film always had the look of a common fedora [of the time] to me. That was what I wanted with this one, the complete bow seperates my 1912 from the film hat a little. Most do not even notice that the film hat has no bow and only a 'keeper' on it.

Hey, gang! I must say that I did briefly try on the 1912 "Fedora" fedora while at LFL and it is not an HJ. It was thicker and had a Western logo in it - thicker like a cowboy hat. But I forgot the brand!!!! I want to say it was Beaver brand but I think that is too much of a guess.

Yes I would agree on just looks alone. I have seen a photo somewhere and the edge of the brim is 'thick', thicker than most dress fedoras.

Great hat, Russ! I think going with a bow on the ribbon was the right choice, too. Yours is the hat that the 'Fedora' hat should have been. I might have gone with no liner at all.

The movie hat felt does look very thick. I think it's a great hat to emulate.

Nice!!!! When I was at LFL in 1990-91 I handled the "Fedora" hat - it was a Beaver Brand hat. Kid you not! I thought it would be an HJ but not. It was 7 5/8 too I think and I zeroed in on it because it was my size.

And a lot of their hats I see online have that narrow ribbon.
