It's amazing how much hair will fill up the gap.
I was thinking the same thing. It has been a while since I got a haircut.

Anyway, now that I can get it on my head, I am really happy with the look. I was skeptical as to whether I could pull off the Indy hat, but I guess I just did not have the right hat.

Beautiful hat Jedirun!

It honestly was meant for you - the brim widths are perfectly dimensioned for your facial type.

There are some people you just can tell belong in a hat and you fit that bill perfectly.

Congrats and wear it well my friend!

Thank you very much IndyRiv. I have barely taken it off since it stretched out enough to fit me well.

I am extremely happy with the hat, as well as the buying experience. Like you said, I don't think a hat with Harrison Ford's dimensions would look good on me with my small head.

I am really lucky you put this up in the Bazaar.

Here is the Adventurebilt this past Friday at Bondcliff in the Pemigewasset Wilderness. The exact middle of the 18.2 mile hike from 7:45am to 4:55pm. I have been wearing my Adventurebilt for all of my hikes since before they were called Adventurebilts - and thought you would enjoy seeing it in the field.

It sure is worth it - once you get there. Other than a few fellow hikers, there are zero distractions that do not have four legs. No cell phone service, either.

I have to hike Bond and West Bond to cross them off the list. Owl's Head too, so I am going to the Pemigewasset Wilderness once again in a few weeks. I am considering going in the back way via Zealand. Slightly less miles and no Death March at the end. And I will leave at about 2:00 am to get there at a reasonable time. And I will stock up on GU this time too.

I wore my Adventurebilt at Disneyland today.

Here I am at Temple of the Forbidden Eye. I got one "Nice hat" from an attendant while on my way in.

Image

Sorry for the quality of the picture. My 8 year old took it with my iPhone.

Later in the day a funny (to me) thing happened.

As I was getting on Star Tours one of the attendants said "Have a nice flight Dr. Jones." For a second I wondered how he knew me, since that is my real name, until I remembered what hat I was wearing.

By the way, the bash in my hat does not line up with the liner or the seam in the back of the sweat band.

Is it common to bash a Crystal Skull style hat with a turn?

I thought that was just a Raiders thing, but maybe I missed something in my reading.

All of my Crystal Skull hats now have a turn in them because the shape of my head made it form that way.

Here is my Adventurebilt Raiders I have had for years and years. I'll try to find the paperwork on this lid. I'm curious to know how long I've owned it.

Might want to check the back side of the sweatband. It might be dated.

Sadly no date on the flip side. I just blocked it the other day. Any thoughts? :D

+1  The swoop of the brim is great, I like the that the ribbon looks well worn-in, and the crown is excellent. A great hat--it suits you!

Just a question for Nebraska. Did your AB need a reblock due to taper etc, or was it because you wanted the new look? I know you put it through a lot so I wouldn't be supprised if it did loose a bit of shape.

I got it reblocked partially due to constantly finagling the pinch (I tried out a Raiders pinch once after it was in a rainstorm, and then trying to get it back to CS pinch after that), partially for a cleaning, too, and partially for some slight tapering. After bonking it on the roof of the Hezekiah water tunnel underneath Jerusalem, as well as having tarps come down on me several times over 3 seasons of digging--not to mention the extreme heat I put it through (and sweating in it), it was getting a slight taper at the top. See what you think--here are some pics of it the months before it was re-blocked:

Pre-reblock-- December 2010:

As you can see, even after the abuse but before the re-block, it was still a great Indy fedora.

But post-re-block:

With the cleaning, re-block, and getting such a great brim shape out of this, Steve's work just can't be beat!

Thanks Nebraska. :)
To be honest, I can't see taper in the pre reblock shots, but the new shape is obvious. Looks great and just goes to prove how tough these lids really are. :)

You can see here how much it's faded. I like the salt stains too.

Been a little while since I posted, thought I'd share some pics of my CS AB that Steve built back in '09 for me. I was in NYC to see the tree and do some Christmas shopping. Saw a ton of fedoras while i was there too!

Well, I pulled my old Akubra Fed4 out of the box the other day and had a bit of a shock.
I guess wearing it in the rain all day at the 2011 QM summit last November caused the hat to shrink and taper. I gave it a c-bash to get rid of the taper, and it looks decent enough to wear, but, it just isn't an Indy hat any more.

I was getting ready to order another Fed4, when I decided to give the Cairo Bazaar a look.
When I saw an add titled "AB for the price of an Akubra", I took it as a sign.
Thanks to Indiana Jeff, I am now the proud owner of an AdventureBilt "Rabbit Raiders". \:D/

After much tweaking, a little steam and a few cussing fits, I think I've got it where I want it.
