Hey all,
First off, YES! It does crack! By no means is it a thunderously loud crack like a 10 footer, but it did make a little "pop" when I tried a cattleman's with it. Talk about fast action!

And yes, it is 4 plait.
Attaching the popper is about as easy as threading a needle, but with a steady hand and good lighting, it's doable. The part I was happiest about was the shape of the end knot - I think it has a very Morgan shape, which isn't easy to pull off on a full-size whip, let alone on something smaller than a pencil eraser.
Absolutely no offense at all to the new 12" Indy figure on Sideshow Collectibles because I really think it looks awesome (and I really want one!), but as an obsessive Indy whip person.... well, I just don't think visually anything can beat real braided kangaroo, turkshead knots, a functional fall hitch, and popper. Here's a picture of the coiled whip I found on sideshowtoy.com.
