Well my LC jacket just came from Wested!
I'm really very pleased with it, but one thing's praying on my mind. Its the size and shape of the collar. It doesnt seem right to me, Im not sure if its meant to be the same thickness (3.5") all the way around too. Maybe its just me, so I thought Id post some pictures here to see what you all think.
Sorry for the poor Mobile phone camera pictures, but its all I have right now!
So here they are:
I ordered a 38R and specified things like the sliders instead of d-rings etc, so Im guessing it was 'off the rack' as I needed no specific measurements (my other wested 38R jackets fit me like a glove).
Do off the rack jackets still take well over a month to arrive?
Ah okay, well the jacket will be going back for alterations.
Should I just ask for it to be amended to match the new more accurate pattern for the collar?
If this was specially made, anyone know why it may have come out with the old version of the collar or was I just unlucky?
Oh wow, thanks for that comparison. I hadnt seen any pictures of the new collar pattern, thats exactly what I was hoping my collar was going to look like.
Hopefully Peter can get it looking as good as that one once he gets it back

I agree. The collar is very wrong on the old style. If I had known then what I know now, I would have sent mine back to be corrected.
i believe that the TOD jacket's production label is where the wested tag is suppose to be. ANZAC_1915 could probably confirm that but i recall seeing a pic of it..........unless it was the shirt label that was tucked in to the jacket on the same hanger........my memory is getting fuzzy.....i don't think coffee helps too much michaelson
What about the pocket flaps? The LC jacket has particlularly huge pocket flaps that cover almost half the pocket. Just check out any screen capture or the LC jacket at themisthonian. My jacket is an LC and although I like it a lot, the pockets let it down as they do most Westeds.
That must be a really old pattern, my jacket is from 99, and my collar is not the same thickness the whole way round, it looks like the above photo on Indiana G's post. My pockets on the other hand are more rounded on the bottom corners than the newer Wested's.

I've been thinking this over and the pocket flaps do seem quite small in relation to the pocket size. Does anyone have any good pics to show the size of the flaps on the film jacket? I've had a look, but havnt found any clear enough to make a final decision on whether or not I want them changed too.
Thank you
I'll print out a couple pics of the pocket to package up for Peter when the jacket goes back tomorrow as Im afraid I'm not very good at explaining exactly how I'd like it to be
Good work Agent 5. Look at those pockets. Totally different to any I''ve seen coming out of Wested. That flap looks like it's around 3.5 to 4 inches deep.

Here's mine:
No offence, but that pocket doesn't even look close to the real thing.
ac, perhaps what cm is eluding to is that the pocket flap is not proportioned to the rest of the pocket length. the screen jacket's flap looks to occupy almost half of the overall pocket and the customer pocket flap is barely 1/4 of the overall pocket. the customer pockets seem to be the usual wested creation unless you sick the stitch SS at peter
you know what we should do.....give peter the correct specs for each jacket, rotla, tod, lc and have it as the standard spec....write 'em all down, have platon and agent 5 do up all the specs for the rotla jacket, i can do up the tod jacket....you me and bink can steal the smithsonian jacket and get a giant photocopier to put it under....etc. when all this is said and done, the only thing to provide peter is jacket size, length, and measure of the cuff.....THATS IT!!!!
then the first time someone comes around and says....uhm...could i get a zipper put into the inside pocket and add leather facings....we'll rig up a trap door that falls away into a giant pit where _ is waiting.....
Actually, I've discovered that if you put your LC jacket in a glass case and stand it next to a HJ fedora, the pockets look exactly like the film version. All better now.
Aeris, I don't need lying photos of deceit. I'm already broadcasting images directly into your mind just like those voices you've been hearing. Your brain doesn't lie to you even though the CIA does, as it whispers into your ear at night.
judging by the smithsonian pics, the jacket looks to be the same run of the mill leather as the usual authentic brown seal chromed leather that peter uses today.....at least it looks like how my AB wested distressed. is it true? did the costume department do the whole alcohol and sandpaper thing on the seal chrome?
