Are those darker than other recent Alden's we've seen?
Matt
They look about the same shade, or very slightly darker, as my pair, which I bought from the San Francisco shop at the end of February.
Max: How are your feet after the first outing? I wore mine all day walking around Fisherman's Wharf and further west along the coast road. BIG mistake!
I have worn them the whole day and I´m just surprised. No pain, no problem with the fit, it feels like I have broken them in for a longer while, but I haven´t I´m so happy, such a great pair of shoes. And another nice add, I missed the customs duty. It was said, that it would be around 50 Euro, but no bill came. My luck seems changeless, just a few month ago I got the pipe from Lord of the Rings for nothing, now I missed the custom duty, why not
nice 405's for sure! they do look a little darker than usual
are they the reddish brick colour or more chocolate? i saw some new aldens in new york....they weren't as reddish as when mine were new but then again they weren't the chocolate brown that is seen in raiders...kinda of in between.
i'm hoping to get some custom made in the real chocolate brown like the 80's aldens.....should be soon...right after they announce the winning lottery numbers tomorrow. i'm a shoe in!!!! (no punn intended....er...maybe just for michaelson )
You wont want to wear any other boots again
I love mine, sometimes they hurt my feet though,
thats my fault though. I have a problem of walking on my
heels, which also causes me to have them replaced very often.
Go here to compare boot color. Lots of images. http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d7/AldenShoes/
Nice pics, nice colours, thanks for sharing.
The colour is just the Brown High Top Mocc Toe Workboot, but I think within time goes by, it will change a bit
My Red Wings changed the colour from red-brown to dark-brown

I love Aldens
Okay, I know I am going faaaar off topic, but being a pipe smoker myself, I just have to ask, which LotR-pipe you got and if it's true, that they are not that easy to smoke and clean.
I got Aragorns pipe out of the first film, it is one of the 456 they made for the films. On an internet page, there was the possibility to get one of those just the first two days of that occasion. I ordered and it took 2 month from New Zealand, but it paid off. And the best fact off all, I paid nothing, cause I ordered by cash on delivery, but I never got a bill lucky me.
I´m a pipe smoker since 8 years and all my friends hate me for that luck I had with this pipe
I haven't broken in the Aldens yet, about two months old, but the Red Wings are over 20 years old and have hundreds of thousands of miles on them. They're my motocycle boot and as you can see I've added a leather patch to the area where the shift lever had worn through. I have another pair but I just can't part with these. What is it with us guys hanging on to old pieces of leather???
By the way, I slit the tongues of the Aldens to thread the laces and prevent "tongue slippage."
You have chosen wisely Max, my Aldens it the best pair of boots I ever had. When ever I look at them I come to think of my grandfather, he was a hand shoemaker and he made his shoes and boots exactly the same way that Aldens are made today.
