AKA a change of pace for ob1al.
Here's my new jacket:
I decided I wanted to go the A2 route a while ago. Whist this is a departure from 'gear' per se, the style represents everything I love about the Indy jacket and the era.
What do you think?
Regards
Al

Al,
That is a beautiful jacket. -Just amazing! It looks as if it came from 1936.
Can you wear it in warmer weather or is it suited for cold?
Good luck with that. It should go well with the gear.

Thanks pal.
As for the climate question, I really don't know - I'll have to field-test it and get back to you!

Al

One more thing I thought of: are your arms really long? I have pretty long arms and the elastic cuffs on jackets like that are often too short for me. My Wested is actually a little long, though I like it that way (and it's a size 44 Hmmm.
). Anyway, any issues with the sleeves?
And please post a pic with you wearing it. That's the only way to truly see a jacket.

And to think that he's shipping it to me! Seriously, Al, that's one nice jacket. Seriously, Al, ship it to me.

Hem - I should have mentioned , this development is 'hot off the press' - these pics are actually from the chap I bought the jacket from. It's currently
en route to me and due to arrive on Saturday!
But based on the measurements he gave me, it should be just fine.
I will indeed take a few pics on me wearing it once it arrives!
High regards
Al

Al, now you got me thinking about going to the Military Surplus that's 4 blocks from the office to buy a new A-2. My American Express card thanks you.

Seriously, Jess, you should. I'll admit, I have two in my closet. When you're not in an Indy mood, the A-2's fill the bill perfectly. Regards. Michaelson

Jess, I didn't earn the title 'grand tempter of amex' for nothing...now quick, sell me my soul back and I'll lift the A2 curse!

Isn't it great, those rare times you actually pay cash for a piece of gear!

To late Al. I think your soul is already on eBay. That Jess is a mercenery no good! Said something about trying to raise enough funds for an A-2 jacket, or something like that.

Hey Michaelson, thanks for buying Al's soul ... I meant NOT buying, yeah that's it. Thanks for NOT buying Al's soul on ebay. It was an anonymous buyer. Yep, I have no idea who bought it. None whatsoever. Trust me. 8-[

Hmmm.
So did you put this 'anonymous' buyers money towards a new A2 then?

Hey, I thought there were strict rules about posting eBay soul auctions here, unless it's you're OWN soul...
Ah, I was outbid, anyway...

Good move. I wanted to suggest that, but I didn't think I should. Al, without an Indy jacket, no way.

You are quite right.
I had a 'moment of clarity' and pulled the sale.
Glad I did.
Still looking forward to my A2 arriving tomorrow though - pics to come!

He was afraid I'd buy the jacket too. I guess he figured without your soul and Wested what's the point of living?

The point is, he bought my soul for just one lousy beer. I'll never forgive Jess for that.
Never .
It was worth at least two.

Hey I'm not the person that "souled" it for one lousy beer. You could have held out for one more and who knows, I might have still bought it for that price. Of course the second beer would have been greatly watered down. (not like the first one wasn't)

Aw, I guess you're right - I really shouldn't have souled out like that.
OK, I forgive you. You can buy me a beer to celebrate. Just go easy on the water, you know I can't handle the H2O.

Oh I forgot about that - I'll ship it via Soul Train. Sorry Al, The Knower of Things is now the sole owner. You'll have to make arrangements with the great and powerful M if you want that soul of yours back. However, if you send me that A-2 of yours I can put in a good word for you. Hey 1000 posts - though still a long long way from Ren and Michaelson.

Don't you worry, Al - or shall I say soulless one - I'm pretty sure the mighty M. (the soul proprietor) will see to it that you're soul be returned, especially after Jess' above soul-iloquy... after all, his souls aren't big enough to walk in your shoes...
I had planned to end this with something witty about Han Soul-O, but I can't bring myself to it... sorry. Oh yeah, and sorry for this entire post.

Actually this particular A2 will be coming up for soul...erm I mean
sale (or maybe trade) in the classifieds anyday now.
Its a really beautiful jacket in person, horsehide I believe - very well made, great colour too!
But...its just a shade too small for me across the chest!
I wish it fit me, really, I do! Guess I need a 44 or maybe a 46. Anyone wanna trade A2's?

A beauty! Wear in good health! I have an Avirex cowhide A-2. Indestrucable! Where did you buy this one? Goat? Cow? Inquiring minds...etc. Cheers--Feng
