I generally use a single bb-loaded strand of sinker cord and build my tapers by adding a couple of other pieces of regular paracord for the core. Also, the bb's only run about half the length of the whip so the whip will also taper as I drop more strands.
I'd personally like to get a Performance Hybrid Nylon whip from Midwest Whips. These babies look like they would be great for some fast action whip cracking.
Great article I can just see me now sending the remote through a window. I'm not sure if my wife would understand my rationale. Lots of fun, thanks for posting this.
I mainly play around in my front yard. I think I prefer grass surfaces, it they aren't damp (although nylon whips do make a nice mist spray on the crack when the grass is wet). I also have access to a gym but find that the slick floor is a bit of a hindrance. The whip slides on it so easily that it ...
Way COOL! Great vids Adam. I think I like the grey shirt one a bit better. I like the intro with the whips cracking fire straight into the camera. Thanks for sharing your talent.
David, nice cracking You also do a great job of talking to the camera - good job on the video. I look forward to the 12-footer video. By the way, I agree with Allen - wear some eye protection. It may not look cool but then neither does a permanent eye patch. Keep up the good work.
That's what led me to starting with nylon whips. The one Rhett Kelley made me is frequently mistaken for leather. Details and linked pics over in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=37494 Man that really does look like a leather whip in the picture. I am personally a big fan of nylon whips. They c...
Nice job Mcfly I still don't like tying those darn turks heads. The rolling definitely smoothed it out some. I can't believe you did it with a paperclip! A jumbo sewing needle definitely makes it easier. Keep it up.
bob - I think you had it right the first time - "addiction!" Truly a beautiful collection. Once my rich uncle that I've never heard of finally kicks the bucket and leaves me my millions I'll post some pics of my new collection.
Lauren - that whip looks like a beauty. I've been thinking of picking up a stockwhip and I like the looks of this new design. GREAT now I just might have to get one! I haven't checked yet, but are these now posted on your website? Keep up the good work.
indyfan1234 - you sound just like I did at the beginning. It really just takes time and practice and you will eventually get a "feel" for it. I found the flick one of my more challenging cracks to learn. I agree with rjallen70 too. the Whip Basics videos are a great help. Robby has a great...
indyfan1234 - I agree with Gus, check out the youtube vids of Adam Winrich. His tutorials really helped me out. I worked on some of them one at a time until I had them down. Don't get frustrated. There seems to be a wall that you get past and then you begin to feel how the whip will crack. It really...
I think you'll be thrilled with your new "Gus." I had a jrzjoe as well - absolute junk!!! I have a budget purewhips and there is no comparison. There is no way to subsitute for a quality whipmaker.
Congratulations Paul - looks like everything was perfect. Good call on not wearing the fedora, but I think you are right that you could not have stolen the show from your beautiful daughter.
I'v made some whips by loading paracord with the fan chain but how does one go about loading a core with bbs? Do you have to use a bigger diameter cord than the 550?
I like wearing my fedora with a hoodie, 8) but I have also found that I tend to think about dressing up a bit more when I wear it. (And for me, "dressing up a bit more" means wearing a button-down shirt or polo with my jeans or casual pants) :D If I have to wait to "really" dress...
50 BUCKS!!! WHAT?!? Congratulations - what a find. Ya, I would have never passed up a deal like that. I hate going to ebay because I always find way too much I want to get and it is so tempting just to click a few key strokes and have something sent to me. =P~ #-o But you got a heck of a deal! Have ...
Jax - The wire is in the sweatband to help it keep its shape. I did not realize there was one there until I kinked my sweatband in a few places. Fortunately mine has not yet poked through the band. I was able to unkink it a bit but this has only lessened them, I think at some point in the future the...
Yes, I agree - Whip Basics Vol. 1. Robby will walk you through a basic four-crack routine that is quite Indyesque. It's pretty short but will get the job done.
Yes, welcome Jax. Fortunately I was saved some pain by coming to this forum before I purchased a fedora. I was close to ordering a dorfman on ebay but was thankfully redirected by this site and now gladly wear my Federation IV regular.
It'll be fine - I wouldn't put any kind of chemical on it. Just let it dry out naturally, the virus will die on its own. Even if you did cough in it, don't stress over it. Glad you're feeling better.
